Restoring landscape multi-functionality through integrated land planning
Two adaptive land-use plans are being developed for the municipalities of Jbaa and Ain-Zhalta, in the buffer and development zones of SBR. The plans seek to restore landscape multi-functionality through integrated land planning and the support to economic diversification.
The process started with participative village meetings attended by the mayors, municipality representatives, cooperatives, NGOs and other local stakeholders, to gather inputs on issues such as agriculture, tourism, housing development and energy. These inputs will be further elaborated by technical experts for the final production of the plans. This initiative will be gradually extended to other municipalities surrounding the protected area.
